Vowel sounds

Many singers can speak English comfortably in everyday conversation, yet discover that singing in English feels surprisingly different. When English is not your first language, singing can introduce an additional set of challenges. Pronunciation, rhythm, vowels, consonants and musical phrasing all have to work together, often while you are also thinking about breathing, pitch and expression. You may understand exactly what the lyrics mean and still find that certain words feel awkward or unnatural when sung. This is completely normal.
